Salvador Dali, The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus (1959)

It should be noted that the term ‘America’ did not exist until after Columbus’ death when European cartographers renamed ‘the Indies’ after the otherwise strangely trivial Amerigo Vespucci in order to disassociate it from Asia and picture it to the West of Europe rather than far to the East.
